Storyline / Blurb:
In the future, when medicines used to treat brain disorders fail to work, mankind becomes segregated into two distinct groups; people with normal brains, and those with mental disorders. The people with normal brains live in MetropolisŐs and those with disorders live in Manic Cities.
Joel Schimmel is a quiet scientist who is pulled into chasing an urban legend that there is a cure for all the brain disorders and that the segregation should have never happened. As he pieces the clues together he ends up employing the help of societies leftovers in an effort to unlock the puzzle left behind. While running from an malicious unknown enemy, intent to stop him from finishing his quest, he sees hope, desperation, and finds compassion in the most unlikely places.

I started this idea as a post Mayan (December 19th-21st 2012) idea. But have been learning so much about how to get Manic City published that I may not have this done in time. So, here is the concept anyways...
The Mayan apocalypse came and went without any planet destroying catastrophe, except for one thing. Solar flares reached an all time high, creating aurora's that could be seen from the equator. Electricity no longer works as the earth's poles are struggling to re-align. Mankind has destroyed itself due to this lack of an almost ignored commodity. Five people have banned together after the Catastrophe, to create a small village on the outskirts of what was a grand city in Southern Arizona. Inside their small village they learn to work together, to identify and respect each other's background, and deal with the mauraders and traveling outsiders.
